Houses at Hobart City High School

In line with the creation of the Hobart City High School, new, respectful and inspiring names were required for our school Houses.  In 2021 Ogilvie High School had five Houses and New Town High School had four.  A new school House system was required for our new school.  At the completion of school community feedback, including through an online survey, a group of students worked together to create new House names, colours and mascots for our new school.

Written permission has been obtained from the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre (TAC) to use palawa kani  words as House names. These are matched with our new school colours, with native animals as logos for each House.  Please visit the 50 Words Project and select palawa kani to hear how to pronounce our new House names.
